Fort William

Spend the day in the garrison town of Fort William where you could tour the Ben Nevis distillery, or walk up Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Scotland and indeed, the British Isles, or just chill by the side of the Caledonian canal and watch the boats go through Neptune’s staircase. You could also board the Jacobite steam train and head for the busy fishing port of Mallaig. On the way you would be stopping at the world famous 21-arched Glenfinnan viaduct (a location made famous in the Harry Potter films) which overlooks Loch Shiel and the Jacobite monument. Then press on to the village of Arisaig on the sheltered shores of Loch nan Ceall and the final destination of Mallaig with its ferry terminal offering connections to Skye and the Small Isles.
